Short Week Ahoy!
July 2nd, 2008

With having Monday off and Friday a holiday here in the US (4th of July), it is a short week. Only 3 work days. Woohoo!

Along with writing my ass off, my house is in desperate need of outside work - the weeds are beginning to form an impenetrable alliance that I must crush into dust. We also want to put rocks around our A/C units - the grass keeps growing up around them and making them work too hard.

I also have a neighborhood party on the 4th of July - should be fun. It’s our first neighborhood-wide party although we’ve had several smaller ones. Hopefully it will be a good turnout since we have about 20 families and the hostess has a very nice pool. :)

I’m hoping to go to the movies this weekend too. Since everybody in North Carolina goes to the beach on 4th of July (the reason we went last weekend), the movies shouldn’t be too crowded. My boys want to see WALL-E, the 12 YO also wants to see Get Smart and Kung Fu Panda, and DH and the 16 YO want to see the Angelina Jolie flick Wanted.

Anybody see any of the movies? Opinions or recommendations?

A story of interest for all you coffee drinkers, Starbucks is closing 600 locations. Ouch. I thought they expanded too quickly myself, but then again, I cannot fork over $4 for a latte even if you held a gun to me. LOL. I’m so damn cheap!

It appears my blog post today is another rambling ride into the mind of me. Seatbelts are optional. ;)

Back from the beach, time to set goals
July 1st, 2008

It was hot, sticky and fun. :) We’re officially back from the beach and while I did stick to writing, I didn’t accomplish my goal (dammit all to hell). :(

Anyhoo, I’m back on the horse again, because what do you do when you fall off? Get back up again of course! I’m trying desperately to balance two books and a side job, not to mention family, my “real” job and not going completely insane.

One month until I go to Vegas, so I’m setting goals now. In concrete so they are immovable. Let’s see, goal number 1, have 60K written of Micah’s story. No chance of not hitting that goal. *shakes head* No chance at all. Second goal is to not only complete Zeke’s story within the next few days, but also to get the synopsis written for Lee’s story (next in the Devils on Horseback series) by the end of July.

Okay, you are all witnesses to my self-flagellation and setting o’ concrete goals. You are hereby authorized to smack me if I don’t hit those goals. I don’t plan on having fun in Vegas unless I’m successful.

There, I’ve done it. *stamp of approval* No going back now!

I’m going to be sending out Sexy Spurs this coming weekend, probably on Friday the 4th, so look for it in your e-mail boxes. If you’re not a member, you can sign up here.

Have a fabulous Tuesday!

Monday Eye Candy
June 30th, 2008

Monday’s eye candy for your viewing pleasure.

TGIF!!!
June 27th, 2008

Woo!!! I made it to Friday. It’s been a hellaciously busy week and I am so pleased to see Friday arrive. Of course I’ll be running around like a chicken with my head cut off tonight as I get ready to drive to the beach in the morning.

Thank God for slave labor, I mean kids who can do laundry while I’m at work. :D

You know I was thinking about TGIF and wondered when it started to be used, so of course I looked in Wikipedia. Veddy interesting… there was actually a movie with Donna Summer (disco queen!) called Thank God It’s Friday. It must have been too racy for my little ears because I was 11 when it came out.

Anyhoo, writing is still going well (whew) and I am already gearing up for a summer full of kick-ass book writing and reading. Yes, just to answer the question, I am bringing my laptop, because I WILL finish Zeke’s story by the end of the day Monday. Oh yeah, totally going to crank it out.

I’ve already got Janette Kenny’s One Real Man in my bag (I’m 50 pages into it - love it Jan!!!). I’ve got to have a backup to take with me though… my TBR pile is so huge, it’s hard to pick. Any suggestions on ebooks? I can download to my phone and read this weekend too.

‘Tis Hump Day Yet Again
June 25th, 2008

And I’m so glad to see it arrive. This weekend is a three day beach getaway and it’s drawing ever closer… I can almost see it.

The writing is kicking along, thank God, and while I’m not nearly where I should be, I’m at least not as far behind as I was. LOL.

Today’s post is about the naked cowboy. You know who I’m talking about, right? The dude who’s walked around Time Square for the last 10 years in his tightie-whities and cowboy hat strumming a guitar. Not particularly appealing to me - I think it’s more about what you can’t see than seeing too much.

Anyhoo, apparently he’s suing M&Ms. Yep, can you believe it? They put up a billboard with a blue M&M in a pair of tightie-whities, cowboy hat, strumming a guitar. Familiar, right?

The court thinks so and they’ve approved him suing M&Ms. Unbelievable as far as I’m concerned. If you’re crazy enough to walk around in your underwear every day in front of millions of New Yorkers, then you have no right to sue a candy maker for a billboard.

The interesting thing is he’s trademarked himself, or at least his look. This dude takes the prize for being odd, that’s for sure. I mean, he doesn’t want anyone to think he endorses M&Ms right? It’s sugared treats for God’s sake, what is he, crazy?
