Keeping on, keeping on
July 8th, 2008

Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m happy to report that I’m keeping on with my vows and writing 2K a day, hopefully I’ll keep it up and knock out the rest of the book in no time. Right? LOL.

I’ve just discovered I’ve got some newsletter subscribers with bouncing e-mails. I’m including a list in the bottom part of this post, so take a look (they’re in alphabetical order) and if you’re on there, shoot me an e-mail.

Anyhoo, I’m such a techno geek. I love new gadgets and gizmos. I’ve had my laptop a year and now I gaze longingly at the new ones. Ridiculous right? *sigh* If I wasn’t have problems with this one, I probably wouldn’t even consider a new one, but they’re all so preeeeeeeeeeeetty. :D

I also am eyeballing the Kindle. It’s down to $359 - does that mean they’re going to have a new version soon? That’s usually what happens when a company is about to launch a next generation gadget. Anybody hear any rumors?

Speaking of next generation gadget… the new 3G iPhone launches on Friday. Oh, my precious. I would love to have one. It’s such a neat little thing and the 3G is very appealing - we’ve got the super-fast network all around here. I would love to know if the iPhone gets signal at my house out in the middle of nowhere. With my Blackjack, I have to nearly stand on my head to get a signal.

Precious toys. I can’t help myself!! Any other techno addicts out there?

Happy 4th of July!!
July 4th, 2008

For those of you in the USA, Happy 4th of July! As we celebrate our country’s birthday, let’s remember why we celebrate it. Be strong and be proud!

Short Week Ahoy!
July 2nd, 2008

With having Monday off and Friday a holiday here in the US (4th of July), it is a short week. Only 3 work days. Woohoo!

Along with writing my ass off, my house is in desperate need of outside work - the weeds are beginning to form an impenetrable alliance that I must crush into dust. We also want to put rocks around our A/C units - the grass keeps growing up around them and making them work too hard.

I also have a neighborhood party on the 4th of July - should be fun. It’s our first neighborhood-wide party although we’ve had several smaller ones. Hopefully it will be a good turnout since we have about 20 families and the hostess has a very nice pool. :)

I’m hoping to go to the movies this weekend too. Since everybody in North Carolina goes to the beach on 4th of July (the reason we went last weekend), the movies shouldn’t be too crowded. My boys want to see WALL-E, the 12 YO also wants to see Get Smart and Kung Fu Panda, and DH and the 16 YO want to see the Angelina Jolie flick Wanted.

Anybody see any of the movies? Opinions or recommendations?

A story of interest for all you coffee drinkers, Starbucks is closing 600 locations. Ouch. I thought they expanded too quickly myself, but then again, I cannot fork over $4 for a latte even if you held a gun to me. LOL. I’m so damn cheap!

It appears my blog post today is another rambling ride into the mind of me. Seatbelts are optional. ;)

TGIF!!!
June 27th, 2008

Woo!!! I made it to Friday. It’s been a hellaciously busy week and I am so pleased to see Friday arrive. Of course I’ll be running around like a chicken with my head cut off tonight as I get ready to drive to the beach in the morning.

Thank God for slave labor, I mean kids who can do laundry while I’m at work. :D

You know I was thinking about TGIF and wondered when it started to be used, so of course I looked in Wikipedia. Veddy interesting… there was actually a movie with Donna Summer (disco queen!) called Thank God It’s Friday. It must have been too racy for my little ears because I was 11 when it came out.

Anyhoo, writing is still going well (whew) and I am already gearing up for a summer full of kick-ass book writing and reading. Yes, just to answer the question, I am bringing my laptop, because I WILL finish Zeke’s story by the end of the day Monday. Oh yeah, totally going to crank it out.

I’ve already got Janette Kenny’s One Real Man in my bag (I’m 50 pages into it - love it Jan!!!). I’ve got to have a backup to take with me though… my TBR pile is so huge, it’s hard to pick. Any suggestions on ebooks? I can download to my phone and read this weekend too.

Tuesday Ramblings
June 24th, 2008

Ah, at least it’s not Monday still, right? It’s a beautiful morning here in NC, low humidity, high-sixties. Nice weather. Too bad I’m stuck in my gray cubicle most of the day. LOL.

How’s everybody doing? I’m doing okay - on the home stretch to finish Zeke’s story (yes, I know I’m late, but I’m close, soooo close) and diving into Micah’s. He’s turning out to be quite a complex man - invading my dreams, too. That’s when I know a book is singing, when the characters appear in my dreams. Hooyah!

I’m writing my fingers to the bone this week, I WILL be finished with Zeke before the 30th. I’m off to the beach for a few days this weekend and yes, I will hit my daily goal each day. Game. Face. On.

What’s going on in my world? Let’s see, Hell for Leather hit the MBAM’s Top 10 list. Woot! Thanks to everyone who bought a copy. :) I’ve got my first website review from none other than Brenda Talley at TRS - she’s such a doll. You can read her review here. Of course, sweet Blanche posted a review on MBAM, too - thank you sweetie!

On a more somber note… I was really sat to see George Carlin died on Sunday. He was by far my favorite comedian. When I was in Vegas last year, I wanted to see him perform, but he wasn’t there the weekend we were, and now I’ll never get to see him live. *sigh* Who can forget his routine on the seven dirty words? Or on “stuff”? He’ll be sorely missed.

If you want to read a good article, check out this one from Publisher’s Weekly on “The New E in Erotica” with a quote from my Kensington editor Kate Duffy (woot!). Good reading. :D

Hope everyone has a marvelous Tuesday!
