Happy, er, snow?
January 19th, 2008

So we’re all prepared waiting for some nasty winter weather to hit, which by the way cut my shopping plans short with my mom, and well, it’s barely raining. The kids are glued to the window waiting for that white stuff to fall.

That’s what happens when people who haven’t seen snow in three years get anxious. The grocery stores get mobbed with people buying beer, milk, and bread. Oh and don’t forget the cigarettes.

They’ve lined the roads with this brine solution (which is now all over my car) and so far, it’s only rain, although we’ve been in a drought for six months so it’s welcome.

Anyhoo we wait, not so patiently, for an arctic air mass that will send us into a deep freeze for a week (whimper, we are such babies) and the snow that accompanies it.

How about y’all? Any weird weekend goings on?

Melissa Tagged Me
January 17th, 2008

So, of course, I have to rise to the challenge because after all, I luvs me some Melissa.

Whether or not you’re ready, here’s 7 random facts about Beth.

1. My feet grew a size and a half when I was pregnant with my older son.

2. I have three siblings - two brothers and one sister.

3. Both my dad and my DH’s mom grew up in the same town in upstate NY, and they didn’t know each other. I didn’t meet my DH until we were 17 and living 200 miles from that town.

4. My mom and I are November babies, while my dad and DH are June babies. Both Gemini/Scorpio matches and exactly 5 months apart in age.

5. When I first got my driver’s license I drove a 1977 Chevy Impala with an 8-cylinder engine. Vroom.

6. I graduated college a semester early because of AP credits I earned in high school - saved myself $8,000. Hooyah for public school!

7. I can make my right pinky toe move independently from my other toes.

Was that random enough for ya? LOL! I won’t tag anybody, but if you want to play, give me 7 random facts about you!

Wednesday Ponderings
January 16th, 2008

Yep, it’s hump day again and this morning I’m feeling a bit like pondering. I’ve been in a horrible mood the last two days - many factors have played into that situation but the biggest is lack of sleep. I haven’t been sleeping well and I’m not sure why. When I did sleep my dreams were vivid and strange. Last night I practically passed out at 10:20 and I don’t think I moved until the alarm went off at 4:55 (yes that’s AM).

I started the day with stinging eyes and almost salivating to get back into bed and sleep another four hours. It doesn’t help that it’s freezing cold again. Last week it was over 70 degrees and now it can’t make it past the low forties. We’re even supposed to get icky weather in the morning - we’re right on the line between snow and rain so we usually end up with the nasty stuff.

I know I have absolutely nothing to whine about in the cold weather department, but I can’t seem to stop myself. I think it has to do with my foul mood this week - man, I was downright mean to DH last night. Good thing he loves me.

As Raleigh gears up for some nasty weather, I’m taking my laptop, my cozy socks and my tea cup and settling in for staying safe and warm inside. Hope y’all are having a good Wednesday!

To lighten my mood… a little funny.
