Thursday Thirteen
April 12th, 2007

Since I’ve got my entire body in the writing cave at the moment (literally and figuratively), I thought today’s post would be about WHY I write.

Thirteen Reasons Why I Write

1. The voices in my head will NOT shut up.
2. If I don’t write, my imagination backs up like a toilet and then you don’t even want to know what happens.
3. I can type really fast.
4. My third grade teacher, Mrs. Freudenberg, said I wrote lovely poetry.
5. I’ve made it my mission to repopulate the western romance shelves. Linda Lael Miller needs company.
6. What other job would you get paid to make stuff up?
7. I can make men do whatever I tell them too.
8. I get to schmooze with romance novel cover models (the only time in my life that’s gonna happen).
9. I can remake history with only my mind. Sounds like a superpower.
10. It would be a shame to waste the B.F.A. in writing.
11. I get to use pen inside a book and not get yelled at.
12. I talk to people from around the world (literally) on a daily basis. That means I’ll have somewhere to stay when I go travel.
13. I absolutely love to write. There is no better job in the world to me.

First reviews for The Tribute
April 11th, 2007

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a review this fast for one of my historicals. I’m thrilled to see that review sites are starting to review them sooner. My first love in romance novels is historicals and it’s amazing how many vamps/weres/paranormals get reviewed seconds after their publication, but the historicals are kinda shoved aside.

First let me say thank you to Mrs. Giggles. I know she’s got a gazillion books to read and selecting The Tribute from amongst the hordes was very kind. Thanks Mrs. G!

Let’s hear it for Brenda Talley and The Romance Studio!!! Thanks so much for reviewing The Tribute.

Without further ado… here is a snippet of the review. You can read the full review here.

5 Hearts!!

“Ms. Williamson has done an extraordinary job of telling this story with a myriad of problems to be encountered. The problems of hired guns, murder, manipulation and unrequited love are just some of the tribulations. I was intrigued with this nail-biting story and could not put it down. It is an exhilarating look at the Old West and I recommend it highly!”

Yeppers, it’s going to be a fabulous Wednesday!!!

It was the year 1906
April 10th, 2007

My mom sent me this. Veddy interesting stuff…

Here are some statistics for the Year 1906:
************************************

The average life expectancy was 47 years.

Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!

The average wage was 22 cents per hour.

The average worker made between $200 and $400 per year.

A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, A dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME .

Ninety percent of all doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION! Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as “substandard.”

Sugar cost four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.

Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.

Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason.

Five leading causes of death were:
1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke

The American flag had 45 stars.

The population of Las Vegas, Nevada was only 30!!!!

There was no Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.

Two out of every 10 adults couldn’t read or write. Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.

Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help.

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A. !

Now I posted this from someone else without typing it myself, and sent it to you and others all over the United States, & Canada possibly the world, in a matter of seconds!

Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years.
