Friday quiz!
March 24th, 2006

I’m still having problems on and off with my web host. :guns_tb: If it continues, I may be switching in the next week so stay tuned.
Meanwhile, it’s Friday, thank GAWD!! It feels like this week lasted ten days already. I’m posting a quiz…

This is pretty funny… My results are so not a surprise. :laugh_tb:

What Type of Writer Should You Be?

You Should Be a Romance Novelist

You see the world as it should be, and this goes double for all matters of the heart.
You can find the romance in any situation, and you would make a talented romance story writer…
And while you may be a traditional romantic, you’re just as likely to be drawn to quirky or dark love stories.
As long as it deals with infatuation, heartbreak, and soulmates - you could write it.
Great feedback
March 23rd, 2006

So, y’all know I wrote my first F/F story and that it was the hardest thing I’ve ever written. I work with a woman who is probably the smartest person I know, and she’s also a lesbian. I have an enormous amount of respect for her and her partner and consider her to be a good friend. I asked her to read my F/F story (The Perfect Score 2: Widow’s Weeds) as my beta reader. This is what she told me:
‘I *devoured* your book last night…I’m very impressed and flattered that you asked me to be your beta reader. I let S**** read some of the steamy bits too. She was even more impressed when I said, “And this woman is married with two kids!” ‘
I was busting my buttons with pride. :king_tb: I am definitely pushing my limits and am way out of my comfort zone. Anyhoo, she called me last night and gave me some critiques on things I need to change a bit, but she also said she loved the characters, they were very believable and three dimensional. She also wondered how I got so accurate on those steamy scenes. “What kind of research have you been doing?” LOL! And, she said she was impressed that I ventured forth to write an F/F romance and predicted I would have a following. _tb: She does not offer praise easily so I took that like a gold nugget.
So I have some edits to work on this weekend and then she’s going to read it for a second time before I deliver it to my editor at Loose Id. :grin2_ee:

I’m tired today
March 22nd, 2006

Don’t know why it’s called hump day, it should be called “sleep in and nap” day. That’s what I feel like doing. Of course, I’ve been running around like a madwoman for the last few days between things for me and my kids. :confused_ee:
So I’ve started with 15K challenge with my cp, Sasha White. Um, she’s got to be beating me (it started yesterday) because I’ve written absolutely NOTHING! Gah! Last night was a Samhain author loop chat on Novelspotters and afterwards was American Idol… I confess I was tired and I wanted to watch it.
So now it’s Wednesday and I’m exhausted. And it’s only 8:45 in the morning. *big yawn* Coffee is next to me, but it isn’t making much of a dent in my sleepiness. :help_tb:
What do y’all do when you’re just exhausted? Taking the day off and sleeping is not a possibility. I need some pick-me-ups that don’t involved illegal drugs or regular Mountain Dew. :surrender_tb:

Tuesday’s news
March 21st, 2006

Join the Samhain authors today, Tuesday, March 21, for the first official Samhain Author Loop Day on the Novelspotters Yahoo loop starting at 1:30 pm EST and running through at least 10 pm EST. I’ll be the featured author between 7-7:30. I hope y’all stop by! :thumbup_tb:

Four weeks and counting until the re-release of The Bounty!

In other news, Sasha White has thrown down the gauntlet! :ohh_ee: *cue startling music* She’s challenged me to a 15K word race (we normally do 15 minutes!). No time limit, but the first one to reach 15,000 words wins all bragging rights. Do you think I can beat her? Or will I be eating second place helpings? I need to find my game face and keep it handy. :grin2_ee:

Bastard hijackers
March 20th, 2006

Someone hijacked my website yesterday, which meant they also hijacked my blog (they reside on the same server). Rat bastards (my pal Lena’s favorite curse). :furious_tb:
It wouldn’t access anything and when I entered the URL, it went to some wacky site that said “this is your placeholder page for your website”. Ack! I totally freaked out. I uploaded my main pages again and nothing, nada, until this morning. Thank Gawd!
Geez, I feel like my privacy was invaded or something equally as sinister. I mean, my blog is composed of my thoughts, feelings, etc. The fact that somebody thought it was a good idea to hijack them is very disconcerting. :sad_tb:
Anyhoo, everything seems to be back to normal. Hopefully it won’t happen again. :mad_tb:
