I can’t do gammas
January 15th, 2006

Yep, I realized my problem with my muse anthology story… the hero was a gamma. Someone who lived life in the shadows and simply accepted what he got instead of taking it.
I lost interest in it and tried my damndest to force myself to write more of it. And it sucked. Big time.
Last night I was online and jumped into a writing race with JJ and Sasha. I started my muse anthology story from scratch and within 15 minutes had written almost 700 words. :bigsurprise_ee:
Yep, it had an alpha male all right, and somehow it morphed from a contemporary to an historical. Okay, I admit it, it’s a western! And his name? Ace Nevada. Don’t know where that came from, just popped in there all by itself. :rolleyes_tb:
So I started over and scrapped about 2500 words. Oh, well, I think the story will be better now because I’m not forcing myself to write it, ya know?
I can’t help myself. I love alphas. :cool1_tb:

Vixen Virgins
Meet Lady Margaret Travers and her sister Millicent. It’s no coincidence their last name begins with a capital T. While escaping from arranged marriages, they inadvertently run right into their bridegrooms. When the virgin meets the outlaw and the vixen meets the sheriff, Texas will never be the same.

Goals not resolutions
January 13th, 2006

I’ve got to keep that in mind. Goals, not resolutions. Resolutions are kaput once you break them - like, for example, “I’m going to exercise 5 times a week!” and by now (January 13), you haven’t done it once. That’s the shitty part of a resolution.
Goals, on the other hand, are achievements that come over time. My goals for 2006 are already in motion and I’m really getting myself together to achieve them.
1. Exercise regularly. No specific amount or type, just on a regular basis. This really starts today b/c with my surgery I couldn’t do much.
2. Lose weight so I can fit back into my size 10 pants. Now I could give you a set amount and date to achieve it, but that would be cheating. :wink1_tb:
3. Write. That’s a given, but part of my writing goal is to spread my wings and try different genres. See my post about The Perfect Score.
4. Get published in print. Now that goal is in sight as well with Samhain. They are taking my Malloy series and republishing the first three, and the fourth as yet unpubbed The Treasure in e-book and PRINT. :clap_tb:
5. Attend a conference or two. Now that’s in sight too - I’ll be at RT in Daytona. I’m considering attending RWA in Atlanta (Sasha wants me to go too). We’ll see how things go.
6. (most important) Live life every day. :grin1_ee:
Anyone else have goals they want to share?

So I subbed to AQP
January 12th, 2006

Yep, I had this wonderful short story I’d written for my peeps at CowboyLovers, featuring Tracey (a member) as the heroine and I decided to polish it up and submit to Amber Quill. They’ve having their annual Heat Wave contest and I figured, why not? I have friends that are AQP authors and they love them.
I’ve been thinking though, that I currently have contracts with three publishers. If AQP picks my story, that makes four publishers. AND when the muse anthology is published in the spring (more on that in a few days), that’s Triskelion Publishing, so that makes five publishers! :shock_tb:
Is that a good idea? I don’t see why not - at least five paychecks coming in right? Can I devote enough time to the publishers? I think so. The most publishers, the most exposure. I have two favorites right now and they will be getting more attention than the others, but that’s not to say I won’t try to promote all of them.
Shit, I’m gonna be busy in 2006! :blink_tb:
Anyway, I’ve got one more story I’m trying to finish up by Sunday (that’s the last date for entry into the AQP contest). I wanted to say thanks to my CP, Sasha, for helping me polish these up last minute. She’s got her own deadlines and she’s helping me edit short stories, and blurbs (which I completely suck at). So thanks, sweetie - you are, quite simply, the best. :wub_tb:
Who knows? I might get picked for AQP or I might not. Either way I’ll have two hot short stories to sell to somebody! :cool1_tb:

A Quickie
January 11th, 2006

Busy day today at work and personal life. I’m going for my post-op appointment with the surgeon. Finally get these damn steri-strips off that are driving me bonkers!
Okay, ’nuff about that. My subject today is quickies. :cool1_tb:
I have sex scenes that are hot, but short (a quickie), then sex scenes that are long and very descriptive. Tell me, as readers, do quickies piss you off? :annoyed_tb: Or do you need both kinds of sex (as we all do in real life) to be realistic and interesting? :thumbup_tb:
I don’t want to bore people if there is just too much sex with lots of hard stuff over and over :wink1_tb:. I also want to keep your interest.
So, give me your opinions. Quickies and longies (no pun intended there :laugh_tb:) or just lots of sex without quickies?
