Ah, there’s nothing like your own bed… I’m missing mine and excited (perhaps not the best word choice) to get back there. I’m trying to be tolerant, but my mother is sort of… noisy when she sleeps or when she’s trying to be quiet in the morning.
Ya know when you’re used to one person’s noises (DH) and you have to listen to another person’s noises? I don’t hear DH snore, cough, or whatever.
Sigh… A sniffle, sneeze, blow the nose, and cough every two and a half minutes at 5 am is enough to make me stuff a pillow over my head and start chanting some calming mantra.
I’m sure DH is missing me too. I’m the “hot” one in bed.
He’s probably cold.
I did love walking through the Market in Charleston yesterday though. Bought an anklet and a “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” t-shirt.
Did I mention DH is probably cold? ![]()

1. The speed limit on I-95 is just a suggestion.
2. South of the Border has more billboards with donkey’s asses than I’ve ever seen in my life.
3. If you forget your adult toys at home, there are dozens of stores along the way where you can restock.
4. Restaurants along I-95 try to entice you by proclaiming they are “no gimmick restaurants.” Yum. I’m there.
5. When the sun is shining, and it starts pouring, southerners say “The devil’s beating his wife again. ” ![]()
6. South Carolina got creative with town names. Examples? Alcalu (is that I’ll call you?), Eutawville (heh?), Pinopolis (Metropolis’ little brother?), and Sardis (is that saw this?).
7. They apparently ran out of creative names. I saw such descriptive road names as “Road 16″ and “Road 210″. The mind boggles at the possibilities.
8. South Carolina state troopers are HOT. Yum. I saw many on the side of their road in their uniforms. Wowza!
9. Jesus has rented billboard space along I-95. Look out sinners!
10. (My favorite) There is a country music station in central SC that is now my personal favorite. Call sign? WCOX.
Hope you enjoyed. I’m off to a day of shopping and sightseeing in South Carolina.
I am going to Charleston for two days, leaving today after work. I’m going to meet my mom there - she’s a world class bowler and is competing in a tournament there so I’m along for the ride (so to speak). It’s about 280 miles from me and I’ll be driving it alone. That’s actually when I get the most plotting done in my books and brainstorm stuff. ![]()
Perhaps I’ll be brainstorming about my Muse stories. Didn’t I mention it? There will be Muse anthologies coming out in 2006 - probably in late spring. I am writing two of them - my own muse, Clio, and one for Polyhymnia. Clio will be a contemp and Poly an historical.
I also need to brainstorm about my anthology with Cece Stuart called Spirits of Santa Fe - a timetravel western.
So many WIPs to ponder…
Anyway, I will be online a couple of times a day (morning/evening) to check e-mail and such, but I expect there will be way more than I can get through. Y’all are a prolific lot (especially the Muses).
Hope everyone has a good weekend… I am in shock that it’s Friday already. Where the heck did the week go? For that matter, where the heck did August go?
I am pleased to announce that I am part of a group of erotic and erotic romance writers called Behind the Muses. We will be a sisterhood of support, promotion, critique, and friendship.
I cannot tell you how excited I am to be part of this group!
There are ten of us, nine muses plus the mother of the muses Mnemosyne. I am Clio, the Muse of History. Clio was a very interesting Muse - apparently she introduced the Phoenician alphabet to the Greeks. Dayum - I have a lot to live up to!
We officially kick off Behind the Muses on September 1. Look for us to take the writing world by storm. After all, we are goddesses.
Half the week is gone and I haven’t written nearly as much as I want to. Of course, it would help if I didn’t IM so much with Sasha .
I can’t help it, we love to chat.
What’s really taking up some time is a new group of writers that I joined called Behind the Muses. I’m the official webmistress of the group so I’m building the website. It’s not a chore, it’s fun (yes, yes, geek alert) however it is eating my free time. The next two weeks we are working like mad to get everything ready for our grand kick-off September 1. Look for us to take the publishing world by storm. ![]()
After that, I am buckling down and getting The Treasure done. My self-imposed deadline (gulp) is September 30 to have my book ready to submit for publication. I’ve got about 9K written, so figure I’m 12% done
. Yowza, I better get busy!
